Universitas Cantat International University Choir Festival
Description
The Universitas Cantat Festival is an international celebration of choirs.
Since 1998, it has been drawing to Poznań young students from various universities who are musically talented, proactive and open to new friendships and to sharing cultural experience. During its previous editions, audiences could enjoy over a hundred choirs from dozens of countries, some as distant as Mexico and Ecuador. From its very inception, the events have been organised by Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań, the Adam Mickiewicz University Chamber Choir and the Association of Friends of the AMU Chamber Choir.
The Festival's concerts are held in various venues across Wielkopolska, the majority of them in the University Auditorium, which is famous for its excellent acoustics. Much of the music stems from the choirs' countries of origin. The festival commonly concludes with a collective performance of a work by a contemporary living Polish composer, usually to the accompaniment of a symphony orchestra.
