A border seen through a camera lens

Na granicach (At borders) is a documentary record of the plight of people trapped between geographic, legal, and moral borders. An exhibition of photographs by Maciej Moskwa is on view in Zamek (Castle) Cultural Centre lobby.

From the summer of 2021, people lured by the Lukashenko regime began to arrive in Poland across the green border from Belarus. The Belarusian President set out on politically blackmailing the European Union using people whose lives have fallen apart and who chose to search for a new home in Europe. For the first time in decades, Poles were faced with people from outside their own country pleading for help. In September 2021, the Polish government proclaimed a state of emergency in the border area.

Photos by the Maciej Moskwa-led "Testigo Documentary" team of photojournalists will be on view on the ground floor of the Zamek (Castle) Cultural Centre. Moskwa is a graduate of the Sopot School of Photography. He specialises in photojournalism and long-term photography projects. Since 2011, he has travelled to Syria on numerous occasions to chronicle the conflict's fallout and the anti-government revolution.
